Pest control updates at Boundary Way
Monday 23rd December 2024
On Thursday, 19th December, Glade installed rat gates in the drains to prevent rats from entering and causing more issues.
A member of our fire safety and repairs team also visited to speak with customers and check all properties. Our repairs supervisor identified some repairs, which were addressed by an engineer on the day. If there are any outstanding repairs for your property, our team will contact you to book an appointment. This includes fixing the main entrance door to ensure it closes properly and the buzzer works.
Now that the rat gates are installed, the pipes are narrower, so it's especially important not to put wipes, sanitary products, fats, or oils down the drain to avoid blockages. To help with this, we're arranging a drain survey in January to ensure the pipes are clear and reduce the risk of blockages.
You might still notice some unpleasant smells temporarily as the bait continues to work. If you have any health and safety concerns over the Christmas period, please contact our emergency number at 0800 917 6077.
Monday 16th December 2024 - update 2
Glade pest control attended this afternoon and knocked on each door in entrances 217 - 222 & 223 - 228 Boundary Way and was able to enter eight out of 12 homes to inspect for any new signs of rodent activity and/or check on bait placed.
There were no new signs of rodent activity found. One rat carcass was found in the communal loft space, and this was removed from site. This means the bait is taking effect.
Our health & safety and repairs team will be on site on Thursday 19th December 2024 to visit homes and check any damages caused by the rats, and Glade will be starting to install the gates to the inside of the drains to prevent future infestations.
Monday 16th December 2024 - update 1
Glade, our pest control contractor, will visit 217-222 & 223-228 Boundary Way today between 1pm and 2pm. They will knock on all doors in this entrance to check the bait and ensure it is working.
Gates will be installed to the inside of the communal drains by Glade on Thursday 19th December 2024. We won't need access to your home for this. While we aim to complete the work in one day, it might take longer if we need special parts and we'll let you know if this happens.
Our health & safety and repairs team will visit on Thursday 19th December 2024 to check for any rat damage. They will contact you to arrange an appointment if they need access to your home.
We understand this situation is distressing and are committed to resolving it. The bait will take time to work, and there may be some unpleasant smells once it takes hold. Glade will remove any accessible carcasses, but some areas may be unreachable. We'll discuss this with you if this happens.
Thank you for your patience as we work to resolve this issue.
Friday 13th December 2024 - update 2
Our pest control contractor has confirmed that the bait is being eaten. This means the rats should start to die within the next 7 days. Unfortunately, there might be some unpleasant smells once this happens.
Please rest assured that Glade, our pest control contractor, will remove any rat carcasses from accessible areas and clean up as needed. They plan to visit and check on the bait next Monday or Tuesday (16th or 17th Dec) - please let us know if you need them to visit your property on this day also.
To further address the issue, we're also planning more cleaning visits in the block, and you won't be charged for this.
We're in the process of appointing a contractor to install rat gates in the drains, and we expect to have this work completed by Friday 20th December 2024. These gates will prevent further rats entering the drains and prevent future infestations.
We will update you as soon as we can.
Friday 13th December 2024 - update 1
We're aware of the rat issue at your block and are taking action to resolve it. We understand how concerning this may be and I want to assure you that we're taking this matter very seriously.
Our pest control contractor, Glade, has visited on 29th November, 5th December, and 12th December to lay traps and bait.
To prevent rats from getting into the block, we're working on installing rat gates in the drains. We are in the process of finding a contractor to install these and we will update you as soon as we can. This issue is a wide spread problem across the estate and is believed to have started following the demolition works nearby that caused rats to flee through the drains.
For your safety, our health and safety team, repairs supervisor, and Glade will be on site next Thursday 19th December 2024vto visit every home and check if the rats have caused any damage. We will contact you by phone or email soon to arrange this visit.
In the meantime, please avoid putting any oils or fats, sanitary products or nappies down the drain, as this can attract the rats and also cause blockages.
Thank you for your understanding and patience as we work to resolve this issue. We will update you as soon as possible.
