Without Casey’s team involved, I would still be trying to find support for my brother
Hear from one of our residents about the support we offered throughout a wellbeing case we were involved in, and how we helped them find further support for their family.
I have been trying to get support for my brother for over 25 years from his mental health team and the police. I have also been trying to get everyone involved to discuss the possible outcomes and support for my brother. Before she died my mother had also tried but the result was always the same. We both tried and it was always in vain.
My brother has special needs and was diagnosed with autism, schizophrenia and learning disabilities. He can’t defend himself against his own vulnerabilities and ended up being a victim of cuckooing for many years by the same person. He would often flee to my mother's house.
He has also been a victim of his own family and on one occasion, I had to get an injunction against one of his/my family members which left him even more distressed due to family pressure.
I was left at the breaking point unable to see a way forward until Casey and her team became involved. Casey has been amazing and managed to bring everyone involved with my brother's care and safety together via a meeting, something I wasn’t able to achieve without her support for over 25 years.
Words fall short of the feeling of gratitude that I feel. Without Casey’s team involved, I would still be trying to find support for my brother. I had no idea Thrive Homes had such a service available and I cannot express the high importance and value of such a team within your service.
Casey was amazing and so professional with the way she conducted the meeting, and the positive outcome couldn’t have been achieved without her support.
Please can you thank Casey on my behalf!
