Welcoming Thrive Homes’ new Executive Director for Investment and Growth

27 July 2023

Thrive Homes’ new Executive Director for Investment and Growth, Alix Green, is passionate about the role Housing Associations can play in being a key player within the development sector.

Thrive Homes, a professional landlord providing over 5,500 homes across Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire, strengthened its Executive Leadership Team earlier this year with the appointment of Alix Green as Executive Director of Investment and Growth.

Alix has a rich tapestry of real estate, development and investment experience, following successful career chapters at JLL, DS2 and Redrow Homes. This varied yet complimentary skill set which has encompassed consultancy, transactional and valuation experience ensures Alix is able to bring a unique position to Thrive and drive forward the business’s ambitions for the future.

Alix has built her reputation on attracting investment in new growth areas in the industry - including Build-to-Rent (BTR) and affordable housing. At JLL, she worked her way up to the role of National Director for Residential Advisory Services, specializing in affordable housing, and then moved on to be National Director for Residential Capital Markets within the Living Capital Markets Division.

Using this experience, Alix recognises the importance of housing assets to investors and is passionate about working with partners to provide affordable homes to achieve Thrive’s strategic growth ambitions of having 10,000 homes under management in its portfolio. In particular, Alix views her appointment to the housing association as an opportunity to work with a forward-thinking organisation which is open to innovative ways to invest and unlock the delivery of future of affordable housing in the south-east of England.

Commenting on her appointment, Alix said: “Thrive is a progressive housing association that puts its customers first. Whilst market conditions are clearly challenging, and the pressures on housing associations have never been more pronounced, it is a really exciting time for me to be joining. Thrive has been at the forefront of innovative initiatives in the affordable housing investment space, such as our partnership with CBRE in January last year. This created a partnership between the housing association and CBRE, which set out a proportional investment plan allowing the two companies to share the risk and return on current and future investments.

Alix is therefore confident for the future: “Deals like this show that Thrive is ready to meet the challenges of the current economic situation and allow the perfect springboard for us to build our investment portfolio and manage on behalf of others to deliver much needed affordable homes for our customers.”

Elspeth Mackenzie, Chief Executive at Thrive Homes is delighted to welcome Alix to the Executive Leadership Team at Thrive, she said: “Alix joins us at a time when we can reflect on an outstanding twelve months for us including major deals with L&Q and CBRE. Alix’s passion for innovating and shaping opportunities ensures that we will maintain this momentum. Her broader background across the sector also adds a depth of knowledge into the team.”

Our Growth ambitions will be achieved through working in a collaborative way, applying innovation and working with outstanding partners who have interests aligned with our own.
